Our Story 

We’ve all been there — sitting behind our desks during winter, wrapped in four layers, trying to study while shivering. 

In the Netherlands, this isn’t unusual: thousands of students live in freezing, poorly insulated rooms. In fact, 1 in 5 students still live in housing with single-glazed windows, which leak heat and raise energy costs.  

We are a team of four founders based in the Netherlands, united by the mission to make living spaces warmer, more efficient, and sustainable. HeatLockr was created to address the widespread issue of poor insulation in rental housing. Our goal is to provide innovative, non-permanent insulation solutions that improve comfort, reduce energy waste and make sustainable living accessible and affordable for everyone. 

The Problem 

Most student housing is poorly insulated — with thin walls, drafty doors, inefficient radiators, and single-glazed windows that let warmth escape. 

This leads to:
